CAMBAC launched the Safer Socialising Awards in 2008 as a 2 year initiative to promote high standards of operation in licensed premises. The Home Office approved scheme involves a multiagency assessment by Police, City Council and Fire Service and was kindly sponsored by Love Cambridge, Luminar Leisure, Hyline Security and Cambridge City Council.
La Raza, Ta Bouche, Kambar, Nusha, Green Dragon, Quinns and Unicorn Cherry Hinton all achieved the award but the overall winner for consistent commitment to improving safety in the night-time economy was The Junction, Clifton Road.
The award was recently presented at the Love Cambridge AGM by the Right WorshipfulMayor of the City of Cambridge, Councillor Sheila Stuart. Amy Vaughan, Director of Operations & Planning at The Junction said, “TheJunction are delighted to be awarded the Safer Socialising Award and to continue to support and advocate for the work of Cambac. The team at The Junction have worked tirelessly over the last four years to set standards that we believe should be best practice across the industry and it is very fulfilling to be recognised for that work. With our award in hand we will continue to champion safe nights out and go on promoting great entertainment and culture for Cambridge City and beyond.”
CAMBAC says well done and thank you to all the licensees who went the extra mile to achieve the Safer Socialising Award, it was a pleasure to work with you on this project.
